Michel Benita: double bass
Michael Wollny: piano
Vincent Peirani: accordion
Vincent Periani is accompanied in this colourful concert by Michael Wollny, piano, and Michel Benita, double bass. The sensational accordionist asserts his originality in a repertoire drawing in turn from folk songs of the American West (“Shenandoah”, “Goodnight Irene”), jazz themes (Brad Mehldau’s “Waltz for JB”, “I mean you” by Thelonious Monk), jazz ballad (Abbey Lincoln’s “Throw it away”), art song (“Baïlero” from Joseph Canteloube’s Songs of the Auvergne) and czardas (“Balkanski Cocek”). Four of his own compositions are added to these, including the irresistibly poignant Choral and the subtly French 3 temps pour Michel P.
Vincent Peirani indulges in a variety of multicoloured inspirations, with moods ranging from distracted tenderness to spirited joy.
